Our Transport Services

Since 2008, Northwest Ambulance Service focuses on providing quality patient care and prompt, courteous service, earning a reputation as a professional and compassionate private ambulance provider.

Northwest Ambulance, certified by State of Indiana, provides private ambulance service to the people and communities of Northwest Indiana. We operate under the guidelines of St Marys Medical Center EMS protocol as an emergency medical service provider. We provide both 911 and non-emergency services.

911 Services

Northwest Ambulance Service provides back-up support to 911 emergency medical services to the City of Gary (with Gary paramedic on-board in critical situation that requires ALS transport). To provide efficient level of service, our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) are stationed in strategic areas of the community and at some local fire stations. Our crews are skilled in dealing with all medical emergencies. Our goal is to stabilize patients as we transport them to needed level of hospital care or other medical support as the case demands. Our EMTs can respond within a few short minutes for emergency and non-emergency transport calls, because we realize the critical nature of these situations.

Non-Emergency Transport

Our team of certified EMTs provides Northwest Ambulance Non-Emergency Transport (Basic Life Support), which can be scheduled in advance or on an emergency basis. The EMTs who provide Basic Life Support transports are trained in basic airway management, bleeding control, CPR, orthopedic care, managing allergic reactions, and assisting with the delivery of newborns, plus much more.

Non-Emergent Transport:

Local emergency room visits and discharges
Trips to and from nursing care facilities
Transfer to specialty or rehabilitative hospitals
Transfer from one hospital to another for advanced medical attention
Trips to and from dialysis and radiation centers
Trips to and from doctors' offices
Trips to and from retirement communities

While these situations are non-emergency, they still require a high degree of patient care, skillfully and compassionately provided by the Northwest Ambulance Service team. Please call our dispatch center at 219-663-8485 or 219-756-1EMS(1367) to learn more about any of these ambulance transport services.
